Lizard Head

There's a famous rock formation around here called Lizard Head. This isn't it. The famous Lizard Head is just a big block on a giant one- for years I thought the head had already fallen off. And then just walking along the Galloping Goose trail I came upon this beauty. Hey there Lizard Head!

We saw "The Hurt Locker" in Telluride last night. Wow, two films in a theatre, two nights in a row, and both directed by women! (Julie and Julia the night before.)

I liked "The Hurt Locker" ever so much better, though I could have done without all the handheld photography. It's a suspense movie set in Iraq. The lead, Jeremy Renner, has a touch of Russell Crowe and a touch of Elvis. wooh!

However, it resulted in nightmares in which I was pleading to exchange Farmville points for a "get out of the army now" pass as we marched over the Colorado mountains to Sawpit.

Money Fish!

I spent a couple of hours going through (and editing) old bookmarks and came upon all sorts of nifty things. This koi fish is made of a dollar bill folded into its glorious shape. I came upon it at the terrific illustration site drawn.ca You may have other ideas of things to do with a spare dollar.

The artist is Won Park, and he even offers a video on how to make your own money fish.

Another interesting site is doing strange things with animated faces.

Oh and here's a gloriously peculiar product you may have heard of but I would have thought it was just a weird dream: It's a doughnut smelling wrist relaxer/stress reliever.

Could you really sit at a desk all day and not have to make a sudden run for the doughnut shop?

The Star

Where did this come from? This drive-in is in Montrose and is still up to date and functioning. You could tell from the look of the snack bar that it was an old drive-in. We only saw it because we took a wrong turn and were cruising past all the sad half built subdivisions with fancy names.

We've been coming to Montrose for groceries for about 25 years. We never knew there was a drive-in here. It was like something in a dream, the room you didn't know about.

Are there any fish that have hair?

I had a dream last night that I was having a really good night's sleep. I woke from the dream and thrashed for two hours. Dream within dream. Lots of not so good family stuff going on...

Afternoon at the track, five races, got them wrong and wrong again, except the first race. We met up with a friend who's raised race horses in Florida. He was following a series of races in Kentucky and cashed a ticket that cost him $16 and got $256. We saw him cash the ticket.

Hot dogs were still $1 and so was the beer. I love the great green castle of Santa Anita. The meet closes next weekend.

ambitious dream

I had a dream last night that I had a job selling a product called Nutritious Oil . (hey, catchy name that!) I was selling it door to door. It came in a spray foam bottle.

You could spray it on any food and turn that food into something nutritious. It was a white foam. But best of all, it doubled as an all purpose cleaner.
