Style Queens

(I'll post the cartoon after lunch.) I went to the mall this week, a place I haven't been to since Dinah was in high school. I'm visiting my mother in a week, and needed to improve my wardrobe. She has thought my clothes were sad since I was about 19- really. Now that's SAD!

And you can't visit her wearing blue jeans- even though her eyesight is poor, she can spot those DUNGAREES and they upset her, because she feels only people in work houses or mental institutions wear dungarees. So much for modern dress.

I used to like vintage clothes, but you reach an age where people will see you in something from, say the 30s, and not know that it's vintage to you too. They'll think you're maybe wearing your high school outfit or something. I like the styles of the 20s. I look awful in hats.

I found a pair of black jeans, (the black will fool her) that fit so well I thought I'd mention it. They're made in.. AMERICA, and called "Not My Daughter's Jeans." They weren't cheap, but I was pleased with them, and I buy clothes so rarely. At the cash register, the cashier circled her name on the slip and asked me to visit their website and comment on her good service. Give me a break, Elvira. All you did was take my credit card, and you want me to visit the website, without even the promise of a prize? Macy's...

And here's our latest cute baby bird monster picture:

I suspect the name circling shtick the cashier pulled was the brainchild of someone higher up on the food chain (who probably never worked at a cash register.) I can just picture a bunch of dolts in suits in a meeting saying stuff like "I know! We can ensure quality service by making each gal circle her name and giving our website! Hold 'em accountable! etc.."

Looking forward to the cartoon... :)

I'm sure that's exactly it.

But I've got to have some of those jeans anyway.

I hate shopping for clothes too. I buy shirts at Target to paint in, I buy a pair of jeans every 2 years at Chicos. I love my black slacks. When they wear out I will cry.

Pants are so much more comfortable now that they've started using fabric that stretches. Trying on clothes is the absolute worst. I know what you mean about '20s clothes: I'm really a flapper at heart.

These pants aren't just stretch- they're like architecture. They rebuild you in the nicest way.

Thanks for the tip--just got some of those jeans. First time in years I've wanted to wear "tight" jeans!
