Get Off the Bus

Ken Kesey's bus that is. Finished Kool Aid Acid Test, (the book). He sounded like a bully. I don't particularly recommend it. One interesting thing, though: the first Prankster acid test in Los Angeles was in Northridge of all places, at a Unitarian church shaped like an onion.

Wow, who knew Northridge was so trippy?
Too bad the book was a disappointment. You'd think with a title like that it couldn't be all bad.
I wonder if the the Beatles' Magical Mystery Tour was inspired by this book? Both involve a tour in a psychedelic painted bus.

A very apt illustration. I was hoping when I clicked on it that I could see it BIGGER!

A film adaptation of the book, directed by Gus Van Sant, is expected to be released in 2009.

I believe the Beatles Magical Mystery Tour was inspired by Ken Kesey and his group. It'll be interesting to see what that movie's like rh. Neal Cassady still stands out (to me) as the most interesting character among them all, but no one I would have ever wanted to meet.

I love this illustration. Have you seen "Across the Universe"? It's pretty, a bit fey, a nice long video of all the Beatles great hits. It has a sequence with the bus that our friend Paul proclaimed the best imaginary acid trip he's ever seen.

I need to make it clear, before I run for office, that this and the strange sisters illustrations both started as someone else's art. Painter X allowed me to rework them.
