I came upon this funny image of Molly as a puppy in my pictures folder . I don't know what had spooked her. The image below is what it actually looked like, but it had so much noise, something that's been bugging me with my digital pictures, those multi color speckles especially in black areas.
You can see it better here
Anyway, I still use Photoshop CS. Later versions of Photoshop have built in filters to remove noise. But I downloaded a free program called Neat Image which is how I got the nicer looking picture on top.
You all probably know how to do this already but it was new to me.

I'm SO glad to be back visiting your blog. You share the coolest stuff. Neat Image was aptly named, don't you think? Well, I do. I'm going to hunt that baby down.
Cute picture of Molly!!! I barely have a grasp of Photoshop and just make do as best I can.
Molly looks like a bear cub in that picture.
I'm not sure why digital pictures can get noisy- you'd think without film grain it'd be the other way around.
Booda baby, did you go to the Flash conference in Canada? I think you have to pay for Neat Image if you use it for large images-- mine are mostly blog size.
Stray, I know what you mean. I got to a certain level with Photoshop and just quit there. Sometimes I'll follow a tutorial and be amazed by what you can do.
Namowal, I don't know why they get so noisy either-- I read somewhere it's the ISO but with my Sony camera I couldn't figure what to do about that.
That's not a dog, that's a little bear! Were you not dying of cute overload every day of Molly's puppy life?
I'm crazy about Photoshop (I use it the way you use Painter--mainly to draw)... I didn't know about the despeckalizer.
Linda, actually we under appreciated Molly's cuteness because we'd always had Chow Chow puppies which are off the scale with their cuteness.
Sally: The Flash conference is at the end of the month. I really wish you were going. There just aren't that many women, evidently, who like coding all that much. (If you'd have asked me to guess based entirely on my OWN experience? I'd have guessed NO women like it, but I'd have been so wrong.) :) What a wonderful mind you must have...
booda baby, Flash left a lot of women behind when it introduced Actionscript 2, I think it was. Before 3, but once AS 3 came along everyone had gone missing. In first couple of years of 200x, there were lots of women posting and playing with Flash code. Really looking forward to hearing your take on the conference.
