On Top of the World

This was my favorite part of our loop through the Rocky Mtns. trip. I'm sure there are a million pictures of this sign, and here's one more. The altitude... the insanely scary drive... the alpine flowers... the bare beauty of it all...

More on Leadville later.

We did that drive about mid-July and it WAS insanely scary. The FLOWERS! Man, that stuff that has to grow fast and bloom fast is just amazing.

You are bringing back such memories for me. We used to own a ski condo in Breckenridge but we only went there in the summer and then tried to see as much of the surrounding area as possible.

It does look pretty. Who knew some places have snow in the weeks before summer?

I went to Independence Pass and almost passed out when I tried to run to the car to get the camera.

Those blue flowers look like forget-me-nots.

Mean Jean, do you think they were forget-me-nots? They looked just like them. I looked up Breckinridge on the map at lunch. Nice that three of us know how wild that high spot is to visit.
