Water when you need it

We had no water in the house last night and just a trickle this morning. I heated water in a saucepan to bathe. We took a three hour walk and then went to town. Tonight the water's back- hooray. No more saucepan showers for me!

Good heavens- almost no water, then freezing water? I'd be tempted to go back to the saucepan myself.

Roughing it unintentionally? Enjoy yourself under every condition. Bet the scenery is cool

We have a peculiar hot water set up which seems brilliant on paper but isn't always so bright.

When you turn on the hot water, cold water passes through a flame heater. If there's sufficient water pressure, the water is instantly heated. As soon as the water pressure diminishes, the flame returns to its pilot light state. So it doesn't use much energy. Sounds good.

But for years now I've had to boil water on the stove in order to wash dishes, and we just use the dishwasher as a drying rack, because the pressure downstairs hasn't been enough.

This morning we had to turn on the sink and the shower full blast to get the shower going. Kind of nuts. But we did have hot showers.
