Bear Where?

We haven't seen a bear up here all summer, but lately the signs are increasing, and this is one strong bear. This is typical of what we've been seeing: 16 foot dead logs rolled several feet, with one end scooped out. All that work to eat termites.

It sometimes looks as if this bear is working only about 20 minutes ahead of us on the trail.

As I look around my little office here I realize the sad truth, I've become one of those middle aged ladies who collects bears. I'm not even going to show you a picture of this desk.

I finally finished the gigantic stack of British detective/crime novels and am rereading "Lonesome Dove." I love this book. I could barely (bearly?) tear myself away to type this.

Just learned of the 5.4 earthquake in Chino Hills. I hope it's not a foreshock earthquake, because we're heading back to L.A. on Thursday.

Bears are neat, as long as they don't get too close.
During the quake I wondered if it was another Sylmar/Northridge deal and hoped this wasn't the day you picked to return home.

At Google images if you type in "bear art knoxville" you can see three of the downtown bears artists have painted, in honor of the Smoky Mtns.

Sally, have a good trip. Being that you're headed back to LA, here's a beauty tip you might be interested in: Bear Escentuals makeup. My old pal from high school introduced me to Bear Escentuals and she knows her stuff. (No kidding, now. It's really great.)

Namowal, thanks for thinking of me at quake time. The Judge Judy cnn video taken during the earthquake is worth looking at... the camera operator did a terrific job.

stray g, is that like those painted ponies that travelled the us?

Linda, hope none of their bear fragrances smell like stinky old fish or jelly donuts, two suggested food items for attracting bears.

(I'm about to look at their BARE site now-- sick of spraying Happy cologne on every day.) nevermind, I see it's just makeup-- too late in the day for this old mug.

Sorry about deleting my previous post. I'm new to this.

I was saying that David Lynch made one of those painted cows and somebody stole it. He has no idea where it is now.

Hi rhs, Thanks for stopping by. It must not have been easy to steal a David Lynch cow, and then where would you put it?
