Breeders Cup 2008

This weekend is racing heaven- the Breeders' Cup Races at Santa Anita, two full days of the best horses in the world competing against each other.

I've spent much of the past week scribbling names and figures, trying to choose my bets. Through the MIRACLE of high speed internet, I can watch these races in real time. I also did the totally reckless thing-- signed up with youbet.com. Anyone who bets $50 on the first day gets a free $50 for the second day. Notice I didn't provide an easy link, so you won't fall into the same trap! But hey, it's probably safer than the market, and much more fun.

Wish me luck! Remember the next egg scenes in "Lost in America"?

Defiantly safer than the world market. And probably more fun too.
p.s.
You've probably seen the Ron Howard video where he recreates his old t.v. shows. Is it just me or was the Happy Days scene filmed at the Hollywood Park parking lot?

If you win lots of dough, maybe we can have lunch?

Have fun! Love Albert Brooks in the nest egg scene.

won about enough for two lunches-- let's see how today goes. I just read through a list of handicappers choices for yesterday and now I don't feel so bad.

Exquisite final race where the giant filly Zenyatta won the Ladies' Classic. She's raced only nine times and won every single race. She's four years old.

The rider held her at the back until right in front of the grandstands-- it didn't look as if he had enough distance left to pull a win, but win they did.

Today's big race horse is Curlin. I hope he wins. My bets are all in. I was able to watch all the races as a streaming feed on my computer.

Namowal, I saw links to that video last week but didn't click on them and now can't find them. Linda, we're down to appetizers on the lunch plan, or maybe just tea.
