Office Party

Glad you all made it to my office party today and glad no one fell in the punch bowl-- actually it's just orange jello and gin, but you gals put a mighty dent in it. Guess you're not exactly vegetarians!

L-R: stray g, Namowal, Linda D and yours truly.

Oh, and make your own party here.

Sorry I'm late to the party, but I brought a huge bowl of Chex party mix!

I love this photo. This is my favorite party ever, too! But with this group I'm not sure a virtual party does the trick. Especially if Mean Jean is bringing a hugh bowl of party mix.

Homemade party mix with lots of butter and seasonings. Also an extra cup of wheat chex. I love wheat chex.

That's funny!

Say, sorry about getting the Jello stuck on the ceiling. ;)

Mean Jean, I bet your recipe for Chex party mix is better than mine. Just making it this morning. It's draining its butter load now.

My mother used to make it as Christmas presents, and I have her recipe, but this doesn't taste as good. I did it in the oven, not the microwave. Seasonings don't seem strong enough to me.

1 cup pretzels
6 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons Lawry's Seasoned Salt
3/4 teaspoons garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
3 cups Corn Chex cereal
3 cups Rice Chex cereal
3 cups Wheat Chex cereal
1 cup mixed nuts

I use the oven method, then I lightly sprinkle on some extra Lawry's after it's done. I do not add the bagel chips some of the newer recipes call for. It ain't fittin'. New fangled notions!

I agree those bagel chips just don't belong.

Thanks for the recipe. I think my problem was the Lawry's salt. I found some Emeril's salt that someone had left. Didn't include bagel chips- yuck, stale bread in my mind. Left out the pretzels too. By request left out wheat chex too, but made it up with the other too.

Very fun!! It's the only thing I miss about real offices - the parties and the rapid punch bowl depletion (quick, quick, before they send us back to work)- but I've managed to get over it. :)
