We're leaving in the morning, heading back to California. It will take two days, and we're planning on staying in Flagstaff tomorrow night, an old railroad town that still has some charm.
Molly spent the day hovering around the car. The Chows used to lie right in front of it when they got a whiff of suitcase action. At least she has the sense to lie behind it! Dogs get freaked out when suitcases get put into action.

How are you feeling about leaving? That's a beautiful sky.
Have a safe trip and a relaxing evening in Flagstaff.
Well I wouldn't want to be here all winter, and I get to go to the Breeders' Cup races next weekend at Santa Anita. And see friends again.
Yeah, I was wondering when you were going to get back to horse racing.... Enjoy your trip home.
Does this breakdown work?
Colorado = pretty scenery, freaky neighbors, celebrities
California = tacky scenery, friendly neighbors (mostly), celebrities
As for the dogs and the suitcases, it makes me wonder how a dog's mind works. Obviously the sight and scent of the baggages triggers a something's up reaction. To what extent? Do they know a trip is in store? A change in scenery?
I almost bought an Element, but went with a CX-7 instead. How do you like it?
We're back and it's way too hot here, in the 90s. I don't know what triggers that with dogs, but I think they see patterns to the way their peeps behave, and when the suticases come out it's a whole other pattern of behavior.
The Honda Element is a great car, especially if you travel with animals or grubby stuff in the back seat. It's incredibly reliable.
Come back soon. We miss you.
