So many talented female artists and cartoonists out there- yet the most famous ones tend to be men. Why is this?
Is it because men have less modesty when it comes to showing off their talents?
Linda, that one's a beauty too. Namowal, I don't know. Seems like cartooning is one of the last areas where women don't get no respect! Maybe too much self portrait stuff? Stead of action heroes?
I remember way long ago when I wanted any kind of job- tattoo design? cocktail waitress? Flyer passer outer? I got a job offer painting cels- woo woo- and they said I got it cause I had nice legs....
all the better for painting those cels. ?
This is wonderful. Thanks for finding and posting.
I'm not lying, I liked that one TOOOO (the anbird). Her prints are really fantastic.
I genuinely like - no, PREFER - most of the cartooning and artwork of women - not because they're women but because their point of view and sense of humor is snappier, lashy-er - like a silk ribbon with a thumbtack at the end.
You got the job offer painting cels cause you had nice legs . . .
My first interview at a design firm was held in the owner's bedroom on his bed (more room to spread out the portfolio?) but I didn't get the job offer.
Linda, funny. Another memory is going in for an interview at not to be named animation studio (not snazelle) and boss telling me, yes we'd like you to work for us, and if you and (not to be named& married) want to hook up that's really fine. OOK!
