In Colorado for awhile

We're having a great time up here, Hiking and reading. I just finished JANE EYRE, which I hadn't read since high school. Lots good about it, but also some silly aspects to it all. The internet connection is unbelievably slow. I click on cnn in the morning then go downstairs, make cocoa, come back upstairs and it's heaving into a web page. Just attempting to post this is a bit absurd.

Anyway, it's Jon's birthday, and we're going to see Bob Dylan tonight outdoors at the town park, a rain or shine concert. Actually it's a hazardous weather forecast, as in the following:

ISOLATED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL INCREASE TO SCATTERED
THUNDERSTORMS MAINLY OVER THE HIGHER TERRAIN BY THIS AFTERNOON.
NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED OVER THE SAN JUAN
MOUNTAINS THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. IN ADDITION TO CLOUD TO GROUND
LIGHTNING...MANY OF THESE STORMS WILL PRODUCE GUSTY WINDS UP TO 35
MPH...AND SOME STORMS WILL PRODUCE LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN AND SMALL HAIL.
ISOLATE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL LIKELY PERSIST AFTER
MIDNIGHT TONIGHT.

Should be an interesting evening! Did they say "A Hard Rain's Going to Fall?" I've never seen him before. Hope he's planning to play the acoustic guitar, considering the weather.

Hope you're all having a happy July. Sally

It's great to see you & Molly.
Have fun at birthday party in park! Do not get in moon bouncer.

From Jane Eyre to the Internet--has that quick transition ever been made before? The death of her school (orphanage?) friend, I weep. Forget CNN, go to BBC. It's quick if your connection is at least 45 KBPS. Tell Bob to sing Tambourine Man, whether the raindrops are scattered or numerous or downright drenching.

Happy Birthday to Jon! Have a great time. I just posted a quiz question about the time I had backstage passes to see Bob Dylan, but it snowed and I had no car and my friend was afraid to drive in the snow so we didn't go and ate pancakes in a diner instead. One of the tragedies of my life. (My brother worked at the desk at the Knoxville hotel where he stayed. The band gave my brother tickets if he'd promise not to tell anyone they were there.) Mom had a copy of Jane Eyre from 1924 that I read when I was a kid. I have a lot of sentimental attachment to it.

Thanks for all your nice notes, and hello Linda and Sally G-- haven't been able to visit your blogs yet as I'm now dependent on Jon's computer, and it took 4 minutes just to get the comment window up.

Dialup girl, I want to post more about Jane Eyre later. The orphanage friend is one of the best things in the book, you're right.
